About the Author of the Site
Hi — I’m Aurélien Duval, the creator and voice behind Outdoorangus Co. I’m a nature enthusiast, outdoor guide at heart, and a lifelong walker who loves exploring the UK’s trails, woodlands, moors and coastline. Through this blog I share what I discover on foot: scenic routes, wildlife encounters, practical tips and honest gear thoughts to help others get outside with confidence and curiosity.
My background blends field experience and visual storytelling. I’ve spent thousands of hours walking, photographing and observing wildlife across the British Isles, and I’ve trained in basic fieldcraft, map-and-compass navigation and low-impact outdoor skills. Photography is how I remember places and species — I enjoy composing landscape and wildlife shots that bring readers closer to nature while also demonstrating ethical wildlife photography practices.
On Outdoorangus Co you’ll find a mix of content that reflects my interests: detailed trail guides, wildlife notes and ID tips, gear reviews for walkers and photographers, practical conservation advice, and everyday tips for getting outside safely and responsibly. I write from first-hand experience, testing equipment on real walks and reporting on what works, what doesn’t, and why.
Conservation is central to my approach. I believe everyone who enjoys the outdoors has a role to play in protecting it — from leaving no trace and respecting wildlife to supporting local conservation projects. Wherever possible I include actionable steps readers can take to reduce impact and support habitat protection.
My gear reviews focus on value, durability and suitability for UK conditions. Whether it’s boots for muddy trails, a lightweight rucksack for day hikes, or a camera setup that balances portability and image quality, I try to recommend equipment that helps you spend more time enjoying the outdoors and less time worrying about kit failure.
Photography and storytelling are how I connect with readers. I aim to inspire others to explore their local landscapes, notice the small wonders along the way, and document their adventures responsibly. I also share camera settings, composition tips and post-processing notes for photographers who want to improve their nature images.
If you enjoy practical, boots-on-the-ground advice and a thoughtful take on nature, stick around — I publish regular posts across Trails, Wildlife, Photography, Gear, Conservation, Tips and Reviews. You can follow the site for route ideas, seasonal wildlife watches and honest kit recommendations that help you get outside more confidently.
If you want to get in touch, suggest a route, or collaborate on a project, drop me a message via the contact page on Outdoorangus Co. I’m always interested in meeting fellow walkers, photographers and conservation-minded people who want to explore and protect the natural world.
