With its vast array of natural and historical places of interest, Angus is the perfect venue for an educational visit. The Angus Glens are home to a remarkable variety of flora and fauna and some of the plants that grow in the Glens - especially in areas such as Corrie Fee, above the newly-built and impressive Angus Glens Ranger Centre in Glen Doll - cannot be found anywhere else on the British Isles.
Or your visit could focus on the importance of Angus in the history of Scotland, with Robert the Bruce signing the famous Declaration of Arbroath in the town's impressive abbey while beside the beautiful Angus village of Edzell lies Stracathro Church, where John Balliol, King of Scotland, signed over his Kingdom to England.
However, you don't have to be on a historical visit or a nature trip to find Angus interesting! Within the county, there are many perfect areas for school or youth groups' Duke of Edinburgh award expeditions. There are also lochs and rivers which are ideal for water-based activities and there's a wide choice of venues for group climbing and all sorts of other adventure activities.
Some Outdoor Angus members will hold an AALA licence in order to provide U18's with certain higher risk activities. The AALA scheme will not cover all the activities on this website, so check with your prospective activity provider who will have their own risk assessments or go to www.aals.org.uk.
